EPAL pallets meet the requirements for packaging according to Art. 5–12 of the PPWR and are therefore PPWR-compliant. This is confirmed by the EU declarations of conformity pursuant to Art. 39 of the PPWR for EPAL pallets. EPAL’s quality assurance system ensures, in accordance with Art. 15 (4) of the PPWR, that EPAL pallets comply with the specifications set out in the declaration of conformity during both series production and repair.

EPAL pallets are reusable pallets that are reused within the open EPAL pallet pool. The EPAL pallet pool meets the requirements for open reuse systems without a system operator as set out in Annex VI, Part A of the PPWR and is therefore a reuse system in accordance with Articles 26, 27 and 29 of the PPWR.

By using EPAL pallets and participating in the open EPAL pallet pool, pallet users therefore fulfil the obligations set out in Articles 26 and 27 of the PPWR and can contribute to achieving the reuse targets applicable to them under Article 29 of the PPWR.
